Thinking about college? Carl Albert State College right here in Poteau could be an amazing option if you’re looking for something closer to home and affordable. Carl Albert State College, founded in 1933, was originally called Poteau Junior College. Its name has changed names a couple of times before being renamed in honor of former Speaker of the House Carl Albert.
Senior Nat Williams plans to go to Carl Albert State College for two years, then transfer to Northeastern State University. She is starting off at Carl Albert because it is closer to home and more affordable. She is excited to dive into Occupational Therapy because she loves the idea of helping people in different work environments. “I want to be an OT because it helps people of all ages overcome challenges they face in their daily lives, whether it’s from an injury, managing a disability, or simply improving their quality of life.” Nat will be taking five classes her first semester of college and three in the second semester. She already took two of her college classes this year. Carl Albert still continues to be a great option for local students like Nat, giving them a strong start to their college journey.
