Coach Upton, our newest baseball coach, has had an eventful journey leading him to teach Oklahoma History and coach our freshman. He grew up in Panama, Oklahoma, living with his 4 siblings, one being his identical twin brother. His father was a construction worker and his mother worked at a factory. He played 3 sports throughout his childhood and adolescence: football, basketball, and baseball. In football, he played receiver and corner while guarding in basketball. In baseball, he played all over the field but was mainly in the outfield. His sports gave him a lifetime of memories, like traveling around with his baseball team. In high school, he met his wife, Mrs. Upton. They didn’t start dating until a few years later when he was playing softball with her best friend. Coach Upton and Mrs. Upton have 1 kid together – Sawyer.
Coach Upton has always wanted to be a teacher and coach. As a coach, he loves to try and make a difference while helping the student-athletes grow in their sport. “The hardest thing about being a coach is watching the athletes go through things outside of our control.”
