Get ready Pirates, the annual ICAP Senior vs. Junior PowderPuff Game is coming up on Tuesday, May 7th. This will be the 5th year that we will be having this game. Mrs. Brooks came up with this idea as a way to raise money for our career and academic program. “I wanted to use it as a way to get students involved in the community.” With Mrs. Brooks organizing this game, it has become an involvement for the students and staff. “I purposely set up the game to be played by seniors and juniors so that the underclassmen would have something to look forward to.” Proceeds go towards supplies needed to put on required ICAP work-based learning events. Along with the ICAP proceeds, Mrs, Brooks wanted to incorporate a way to give towards a good cause with the proceeds. The second year, Mrs. Brooks implemented that half of the proceeds go towards St. Jude’s Children’s Research. “While things get competitive, it is all in fun and for such a great cause.” Senior Haleigh Garrett is excited to participate again this year in the PowderPuff Game. “I decided to participate because it’s for a good cause and I like to play football. Mrs. Brooks tells how seeing everyone together is special and how it brings everyone closer together. “It’s times like these you appreciate and take so much pride in our school, students, teachers, admin, and community.” Come out and watch all of these activities on Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00. We hope to see you there! Go Pirates!
