The 20th anniversary of the Miss PHS pageant was successful in many ways. Miss PHS helps the Poteau Pom Squad by showing their commitment and involvement within the community. Profits from the pageant are used to fund uniforms, competition fees, and other expenses. This year your 2023 Miss PHS is Senior Meia Graham. Meia has competed in Miss PHS since her freshman year and has loved it ever since. “Being crowned Miss PHS is extremely exciting and crazy and awesome and amazing , and every other word for amazing!” Meia was also awarded with Miss Congeniality, Best Formal Wear, and Best Casual Wear. “This was my first year even making top five and being called for three awards was such a surreal feeling.” Along with Meia winning Miss PHS, Freshman Ember Hebert was also awarded Miss Crowd Pleaser. “ When I received Miss Crowd Pleaser I was shocked because it was only my first year and I had just been getting a feel for things. Walking up to get my award I felt very accomplished.” This year the pageant had a total of 19 contestants that competed. As a first year contestant, Ember had a wonderful experience and has some advice for anyone who is considering competing next year. “ I would say go for it! I was hesitant at first too because I was stepping out of my comfort zone, but I’m glad I did.” We want to congratulate everyone who competed in Miss PHS and we hope to see even more students compete next year!
