This year, our school’s track team has achieved great accomplishments. The boys’ track team placed fifth at their last track meet, facing off against competition that will also be at state. The girls’ team has also done well as they continue through each meet. Throughout the season, we have seen many students improving as they continue in their athletic careers. With state competition on the horizon, both teams are pushing harder than ever and have no signs of slowing down.
While all the athletes on the team have put in amazing work, there are a select few who’ve stood out. One of these athletes is Camden Crew. He has pushed through this year and has ranked in the top 10 in the 100 meters, and should be competing in the 200 soon. There have also been two young men who beat the 5-minute mark in the mile, which not many people at Poteau Public Schools can do. Also on the boy track team, sophomore Hunter Montez, who has just come back from being injured, finished third in the disc and fourth in the shot at the last competition, has a bright future ahead of him. This year, on the girls track team, there have been students excelling more each track meet. One in particular is Bea Caprari, who has only recently joined the Pirate Schools. She has consistently increased her speed at every track meet.
As the season draws to a close, the dedication and perseverance of our track athletes shine brighter than ever. Their achievements this year are a testament to their hard work, resilience, and team spirit. With the state competition just ahead, a sense of excitement and confidence fills the air. No matter the outcome, both the boys and girls teams have made our school proud, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.
