Drum Corps International (DCI) is the major league of marching bands, where top teams across the U.S. compete to become world champions. The Boston Crusaders, a World Class team, recently placed second at the World Championships with an impressive score of 97.413! With 3 movements, or songs, their show was one of the shorter ones at only about 13 minutes.
Starting with the first movement, the visuals were excellent. With their theme being glitch, I love how they dressed the band in color and the colorguard in white. The white circle props are very unique and I enjoyed seeing how the performers used them. The color guard was very in sync, with their clean catches and smooth transitions. The ending of movement one sounded so good and looked incredible.
Onto the second movement, it opens with a color guard performer spinning 2 things at once! The drumline snakes around him and the brass players circle around other colorguard performers. I like how the brass laid down in their circles, it looks cool and it gives them a second to catch their breath which I bet they needed. Closing out movement two, a trumpet player hit a very difficult high note!
Ending with the third movement, I loved how they grouped the band together by their uniform colors in their line. I think it looks so good when they do that. The color guard had very impressive choreography with an amazing sabre toss and smooth ripples. I also loved a lot of the shapes the performers made. For example, they made an infinity symbol twice and it just looked amazing. Once their performance ended, I thought it was so cool how the announcers’ audio glitched as he was introducing them once again. Overall, their performance was incredible. It’s no surprise that they scored so high!
