Choir is an honored group here at Poteau High School. This year, lets take a little look into what they think.
Students of the PHS choir like Preston Daugherty and Kaylynn Wedge said that they have enjoyed choir while they have been in it. They have fallen in love with singing and both have some of their best friends and family in there. It pushes them to the limit sometimes, but that´s one of their favorite parts of the PHS choir. Both being in choir for five years or more has also invited them to make new bonds and connections. Connections such as to the choir and their peers around them.
Mrs. Smedley has been teaching music for twenty-three years now! She started singing from a young age of three and she says it naturally progressed into her life when she was in middle school. Although she plays piano and was in a musical band for a while, she goes back to choir. ¨Choir is where I found a home and love of making music.¨ Choir in general influences her life daily and she says ¨it will always be apart of my life.¨ One of her favorite interests about choir is how it attracts such a variety of students. ¨It´s so fun to watch them learn and create together.¨ She enjoys to watch her students progress from fifth grade with just a love for singing into the seniors all while they are all singing in her classroom!
