Listen up PHS, Basketball season has started! The teams have been preparing physically and mentally, and their goals and achievements are similar. “My goal this season is for my team to come out strong and grow together,” says senior Brooklyn Garner. Junior Drew Stone has a plan. “My goal is to make it to the county championship this season or hopefully my senior year.” Senior Camryn Zink feels confident about her team. “We have been practicing since off-season, I feel very confident about my girls this year,”. Junior Hudson Burdick has seen improvement from the other guys. “We have achieved a lot more than last year, I’m hoping to make the Leflore County Tournament.” Seniors Parker Patterson and Kallen Ramirez look forward to spending more time with their teammates. They both cherish the time they have with them and enjoy the memories they made. Seniors Connor Whitworth and Jaxon Hurst reflect on their years played, in which coaches have played a pivotal role. “They both push me to the best of my ability and I love my coaches,” says Connor. “They are two different people,” added Jaxon. “Coach Sockey brings the intensity and is committed to making us better as a team. Coach Hemphill makes sure we are doing good and keeps us on the right track.” Senior Savanna Bryan has some wise words to say to her team. “Sadly, this is my last year getting to play, I’ve been with these girls since sixth grade and I enjoyed it ever since. Always have good sportsmanship towards each other and keep your heads up high.” Let’s cheer on our Pirates and get our heads in the game!
