PHS Christmas Wishlist

If Santa Claus magically appeared at Poteau High School this Christmas, we know he wouldn’t come empty-handed. Between early mornings, heavy backpacks and dozens of tests, students here definitely deserve a Christmas miracle. This is a list of the best presents that the students would like to receive this Christmas: some gifts are more modest, others decidedly pretentious and quite unattainable, but, at the end of the day, there’s no harm in hoping. 1)Coffee machines in every hallway Let’s face it: getting through the first hour without caffeine is a test of endurance. A coffee machine between classrooms would save dozens of sleepy students and maybe even a few grades. 2)A school swimming pool Imagine Poteau High with its own indoor pool: training for the swim team, parties during spirit week, maybe even a synchronized swimming class. Santa, we’re not asking for much… just an Olympic-size pool, please. 3)An extra day off after every major test: After finals, ACTs, and endless tests, we deserve an official “Recovery Day.” Even our brains need rest… and so do the teachers who grade the tests. 4)The revelation of the secret password for school Chromebooks Let’s face it: we all dream of discovering that mysterious password that locks half of the Chromebook’s functions. Not to cause damage, just to understand why our computer decides that “YouTube is inappropriate” even when we’re looking for a science video. 5)Lockers for all students At Poteau High, students carry everything on their shoulders. Between books, laptops, notebooks, and water bottles, their backpacks seem to weigh more than a moose from the North Pole. Having a personal locker where they could leave some of their stuff would be a small but significant relief (and would probably reduce visits to the physical therapist). 6)A “role reversal” day Students become teachers and teachers become students for a day. In addition to being fun, it would also be educational: everyone would understand what it feels like to be “on the other side of the desk.” 7)A surprise visit from Santa Claus himself The best gift of all? Seeing him actually arrive in the hallways of Poteau High, handing out candy canes and smiles—perhaps accompanied by a few reindeer parked outside the school. For one day, no stress, just Christmas spirit. 8)Hot Chocolate Day A full day where every student gets free hot chocolate with optional marshmallows, whipped cream and peppermint. It would boost most morale, warm frozen hands in the morning and probably double participation in the first class.
