Hit and Steal!

With the sun out and the breeze flowing through, it’s a good day to play ball. It’s thrilling to watch your favorite team battle it out for the win, and you can feel the tension in the air as each pitch is thrown. The fact that every single play matters makes it even more exciting, there are no do-overs or timeouts in baseball. Each position, from the pitcher’s mound to the outfield, carries its unique challenges and demands. For instance, a pitcher must plan and deliver each throw carefully, calculating for velocity, direction, and spin, while an outfielder requires agility and speed to catch fly balls and execute precision throws. Senior Coby Bell reminisces about his memories. “It is kinda sad that my high school career in baseball is winding down but I’m also looking very forward to playing at the next level in college. Baseball has always been my sport, something that I have played ever since I was 3 years old. I love getting on the mound and getting to compete against the batter and win the competition against the batter every time I step on the mound.” Coby has noticed his teammates’ efforts, but one sticks out to him the most. “Jagger Dodson has a lot of potential, I hope he comes back and is better than ever. He doesn’t let his injury get him down and I have high hopes that he will do great his senior year.” The baseball team has a team trip coming up soon. They are going to Gulf Shores not only to play and get a victory but to experience some team bonding as well. The coaches of this team are Ryan Dill, Ronnie Sockey, and Daniel Upton. “I tell the younger players to listen to their seniors,” said Dill. “They are your leaders, they are there to help you whenever you are struggling. Take what they say to heart. You may not like criticism, but it’s to help you learn and grow.” As the season goes on, let’s cheer on our Pirates and swing this ball out of the park!
